Djibouti requested Ethiopia’s support in its bid to two of the commissioner posts in the African Union Commission.

Foreign Minister of Djibouti Mahamoud Ali Youssouf made the request during a consultation with Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonen here today.

 

During the meeting, the Djiboutian Minister told the Deputy PM that this country needs Ethiopia’s support to win the election to be held in the upcoming AU Summit.

Djibouti has presented two candidates, for the posts of Deputy Chairmanship of the AUC and political affairs commissioner.

The minister also presented an invitation letter from President Omar Guelleh for Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn to attend the inauguration of the Ethiopia-Djibouti railway, to be held after two weeks.

Deputy Prime Minister Demeke told the Djiboutian Minister that Ethiopia will consider the request, according to a high level official who attended the meeting.
