Cuba is going to open a bio-technological center of excellence (CoE) in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Cuba, Dawano Kedir told ENA that the countries reached the agreement for the establishment of the CoE at a business forum held in Havanna two months ago.

Cuba is internationally recognized for its medical services and biotechnology, the ambassador recalled.

A center that helps to produce medicines and vaccines will be established to improve the health of citizens, Ambassador Dawano added.

The ambassador pointed out that the country has won international recognition for its prevention oriented medical care.

Over 15,000 specialists are sent to 100 countries across the world by Cuba, of these 14 are currently practicing at Saint Petros and Jimma hospitals, he elaborated.

He also expressed his hope that the medical personnel will share their experiences in the field.

Ambassador Dawano further revealed that the CoE is expected to help produce fertilizers and also species that increase sugarcane productivity.
