Dr. Tedros briefed Ethiopian diaspora members the outcome of his three days official visit to Sweden. He said, to cement the existing friendly relation between Ethiopia and Sweden, the two countries signed MoU for Bilateral Political Consultations and also the government of Sweden launched 25 ml USD development cooperation with Ethiopia for coming five years. In a round table discussion with big companies from Sweden Dr. Tedros said that, these big companies have showed huge interest to invest in Ethiopia and also those who are already in the country promised to expand their business activities further.

He briefed the diaspora members on the all-round socio-economic achievements, infrastructure developments, and the efforts to achieve the first Growth and Transformation Plan in a rapid and inclusive way.

Dr. Tedros mentioned that the growth registered in the first GTP changed the image of the country and for the first time in our history the country economy rated by International organizations and got a credit rating as B+. He explained that Ethiopia is attracting significant international attention and becoming a preferred investment destination on the African continent.

He also said Ethiopia is trying to achieve the twin objectives of sustainable development and ensure the prevalence of democracy. He stressed that democracy in Ethiopia has to be home grown and the government is committed and nurtured it in the right direction.
Dr. Tedros also briefed the members of the community on current issues in Ethiopia concerning the El Nino induced drought, the recent disturbance occurred in Oromia region and the attacks against innocent civilians in Gambella region.
During the event, Dr. Tedros clarified in details for the question raised during the discussion and a minute of silence also observed for the victims of Gambella attack.
