LONDON: Poll: 55 Percent of UK Voters in Favor of Brexit

More than half of UK voters would like to see Great Britain exit the European Union, according to the results of a new poll.

The survey, conducted by ORB for London newspaper The Independent, found that 55 percent of UK voters are in favor of what’s known as “Brexit.” Forty-five percent want the UK to remain a member of the European Union.

The 10-point difference is the largest lead voters in the “Leave” camp have had since this particular poll began a year ago. At that point, the “Remain” camp had a lead of 10 percentage points.

Voter turnout for the June 23 referendum could be what decides the UK’s future with the EU. According to the ORB poll, 78 percent of “Leave” supporters said they will definitely vote. Sixty-six percent of those in favor of the UK staying in the EU said the same.
