The Central Committee identified lack of good governance and rent-seeking as key challenges.

The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has singled out abuse of power as major source of rent-seeking and poor governance in the state.

Front’ Central Committee Office said in a statement that it took note of lack of good governance in the state which is creating public problem.

It evaluated youth limited participation and benefits from ongoing development activities in the state as a weakness. It also indicated that efforts of maximizing the benefit of women were not up to expectations.

Though problems of good governance and rent-seeking were identified as key challenges in the state, efforts towards overcoming the challenges were very minimal, it said.

According to the statement, abuse of power has been aggravating problems of good governance and rent-seeking as well as fueling public anger.

Some anti-peace elements also tried to promote their agenda creating problems between the public and the front, the statement said.

Following thorough evaluation of achievements and gaps over the past years, the Central Committee has come up with short and long term solutions to address public complaints.

The statement stressed the need for active public involvement in bringing about changes indicating plans to undertake public mobilization.

TPLF has passed decisions that would enable it work with other sister parties and the general public in dealing with the challenges, according to the statement.

The Central Committee called on the general public and members to rally behind the Front in the fight against identified problems.
