State Council appoints new cabinet members

The Amhara State Council has approved the appointments of twelve new cabinet members. Except for one abstention, the State Council approved the appointments with a majority vote.

It was noted on the occasion that the appointees were nominated in consideration of their experience, educational background, leadership capability and commitment to serve the public.

Accordingly, the following twelve new cabinet members have been appointed:

1. Dr Yilkal Kefale Asres – Head of Education Bureau

2. Dr Abebew Gebeyehu – Head of Health Bureau

3. Mola Fetene – Head of Water, Irrigation and Energy Bureau

4. Tsega Arage – Head of land Administration and Conservation Bureau

5. Fiseha Woldesenbet – Head of Administration and Security Bureau

6. Dr Tilahun Mehari – Head of Finance and Economic Cooperation Bureau

7. Dr Hirut Kassaw – Head of Culture and Tourism Bureau

8. Mola Jenberu – Head of Labor and Social Affairs Bureau

9. Mohammed Abdu- Director of Revenues Authority

10. Dr Belayneh Ayele- Head of Environment, Forest and Wildlife Bureau

11. Lake Ayalem- Head of Technical, Vocational and Enterprise Development Bureau

12. Welela Mebrat- Head of Youth and Sports Bureau

Whereas, the following ten previous cabinet members retained their positions in the new state government:

1. Binalf Andualem – Deputy Chief Administrator

2. Tesfaye Getachew – Head of Trade and Market Development Bureau

3. Dr Teshome Wale – Head of Agriculture Bureau

4. Genet Gebere Egziabher – Head of Urban Development, Housing and Construction Bureau

5. Jantirar Abay – Head of Road and Transport Bureau

6. Firdie Cheru – Head of Justice Bureau

7. Fentaye Tibebu – Head of Women’s and Children Bureau

8. Geleta Seyoum – Civil Service and Human Resource Development Bureau

9. Nigusu Tilahun – Director of Communication

10. Bedilu Dingetu – Commissioner of  Planning Commission
