HPR: Gov’t interventions on poverty reduction, drought resilience encouraging

 

Government interventions on poverty reduction and drought resilience in regional states in needing special support have been encouraging, the Legal, Justice and Administrative Standing Committee with the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) has said.

The Standing Committee evaluated the six-month performance of the Ministry of Federal and Pastoralist Development Affairs on Tuesday.

 

Federal and Pastoralist Development Affairs Minister, Kassa Teklebirhan, noted that awareness raising activities have been underway to bring about lasting peace in line with the Federal System and the Constitution.

Members of the Standing Committee for their part reminded the ministry of the need to reinforce state to state cooperation with legal frame work on development activities.

Meanwhile, the HPR Legal, Justice and Administrative Standing Committee also same day looked at the activities of the Ethiopian Charities and Civil Societies Agency.

The Standing Committee noted on the occasion that works on prioritizing persons with disabilities, elders, women and children to get the required help have been fruitful.

The Standing Committee also urged the Agency to stand firm against corruption.
