Ethiopia says working for the safe return of nationals from Saudi Arabia

 

Dr. Negeri Lencho, Minister of Government Communication Affairs Office (GCAO), says the government of Ethiopia is working to ensure the safe return of citizens from Saudi Arabia, following Saudi Arabia’s announcement of a 90 day amnesty for all illegal immigrants living in the country.

He said a national task force has been established to effectively coordinate the safe return of nationals and protect their rights.

Dr. Negeri said activities that will enable Ethiopians get accurate information regarding their return have been undertaken to ensure the safety of Ethiopian returnees.

The information is being supplied to Ethiopians with different local languages through embassies and consulates as well as GCAO and the social media.

Dr. Negeri urged Ethiopian immigrants living illegally in Saudi Arabia and families to leave the country within the given period to avoid problems.

He said the government would assist those Ethiopians who return home within the deadline to engage in income-generating activities to help them rebuild their lives.
