Ethiopia Keen to Cooperate with Japan in Human Resource Dev’t

 

Ethiopia is keen to cooperate with Japan to produce skilled human power to enhance the development of the country’s manufacturing sector, Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonen said.

 The Deputy PM, who is visiting Japan leading a high level delegation, made the remark while discussing with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe.

Demeke during the occasion briefed Prime Minister Abe about Ethiopia’s desire to cooperate with Japan in human resource development to realize its aspiration of becoming a manufacturing hub.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that working with Japan in the area will enhance the efficiency of Ethiopia’s manufacturing industry.

 

 

In this regard, he called on Japan to enhance Ethiopia’s share from its human resource capacity building program that the Asian country provided to Africa through the Abe Initiative.

Prime Minister Shinzō Abe on his part praised efforts made by Ethiopia to build strong and multi-faceted economy.

He also appreciated Ethiopia’s role in the continental and global efforts to ensure peace and security in the region and beyond.

During the discussion, the leaders have agreed to work together to expand the Kaizen philosophy which Ethiopia has been implementing over the past years to other African countries.

They have also reached agreement to encourage Japanese investors’ engagement in Ethiopia and in providing capacity building scholarships for Ethiopian scholars and students.
