The charity association Ye Enat Weg, which runs School Feed Program in primary schools in Addis Ababa, has received 2.5 million birr donation from local companies today.
During the handing of the donation, First Lady Roman Tesfaye and Chairperson of Ye Enat Weg Charitable Association appreciated the commitment of the companies in supporting children to attend school.
She stated that the donation is crucial to help poor children that lack food, uniform, and educational materials from dropping out of school.
With the commitment of support of various stakeholders, the program has helped to cut dropouts and repetition rate in schools, Roman revealed.
The companies that donated one million birr each are W.A Oil factory and Distributions Limited Company and Belayneh Kindie Import, Export and Associates, while Kiya Transport Private Limited Company gave half a million birr.
The owners and representatives of the companies on their part expressed their commitment to continue supporting the program.
Ye Enat Weg Charitable Association started work by feeding 5,106 students drawn from different schools in Addis Ababa in March 2014. It now feeds over 20,000 students, it was indicated.
