Joint Efforts Needed to Combat Terrorism: Foreign Minister

 

Minister of Foreign Affairs Workneh Gebeyehu called for joint efforts to combat terrorism, since it has become a global threat, according to a press release the Ministry issued to ENA.

 In a speech he delivered to the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS that took place in USA, Workneh said the international community should join hands against terrorism, since it is not an issue to be dealt by few countries.

 He also reaffirmed Ethiopia’s stance to continue working to fight terrorism jointly with different countries and international organizations to.

 

The Minister has also recalled that the terrorist group had slain 30 Ethiopians in Libya a few years ago.

International coalition aimed to deter terrorism helps to exchange experiences in controlling terrorist activities and network along border areas and build capacity of countries in this regard, he said.

The Global Coalition against ISIS was formed in 2014 by the U.S. with the objective of decapitating and ultimately defeating the terrorist group.

The Coalition is composed of 72 member countries including nine African nations committed to the goals of eliminating the threat posed by ISIS.
