The approved national standards are in chemical, textile and leather products as well as electro-mechanical sectors, among others, Endale stated.
According to the Director-General, approval of the standards would serve to enhance technological transfer and innovation as well as help access new markets by fulfilling the requirements of beneficiary countries.
They would also contribute in terms of protecting the community’s health, environmental safety and benefits of consumers.
Some 44 of the 970 presented to the council were rejected, it was learned.
