The ongoing efforts to fully stop the border conflict between Oromia and Somali regional states and to stabilize, create peace and tranquility need to be further consolidated, Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn said.
The PM made the remark at a discussion attended by Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen, leaders of the disputing states, high officials.
The premier added that the efforts to restore peace and stability in the bordering areas of the two regional states have to be further strengthened.
He stressed that rehabilitation of the internally displaced people from the two regions due to the conflict has to be given attention.
Since bringing to justice suspects that violated human rights during the conflict is a matter of ensuring the prevalence of rule of law, the federal government will fulfill its constitutional obligation upon receiving a detailed report from the body entrusted with investigating the case, the Premier underscored.
Hailemariam further stressed that the age long tradition of tolerance and peaceful coexistence of the Oromo and Somali people should be cherished and inherited to the next generation.
