The two ministers met at the margins of the 18th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of the African Union on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which started yesterday in Kigali, Rwanda.

An Ethiopian delegation led by Dr Workneh is attending the meeting organized to launch the continental free trade area, a flagship project of African Union’s Agenda 2063 aiming.

Ethiopia and Djibouti last week conducted their 24th joint border administrators/ commissioners meeting in Ethiopia.

The event is a platform which helps the two countries to share ideas that are beneficial to improve the livelihoods of people of the two countries, identify common challenges, and come up with solutions.

During the meeting, it was indicated that the joint commission has carried out encouraging activities towards preventing human trafficking, illicit firearms, and contraband trade.

The two countries have strong and longstanding culture and economic relations.
