Mustafa Mohammed Omar: My Somali & Ethiopian Identities Are Intertwined

Mustafa Mohammed Omar was appointed as president of Somali regional state in August of this year following what appeared to be Somali regional state sponsored unprecedented violence which targeted certain ethnic groups in the region.

Musfafa himself lost his brother, as he said in an interview with ESAT in the past, to the brutes of Abdi Illey, who is currently in custody facing charges for his involvement in the attack in the region.

Mustafa has perfectly understood the dangers of ethnic politics in the country and he hopes to see an Ethiopia where ideas matter, not ethnicity.

His interview with Kasahun Seboka of SBS Amharic got Ethiopians talking so much so that some seem to see leadership quality and ideas that could benefit Ethiopia.
