The Ethiopian Embassy in Brussels, accredited to the European Union, six Benelux and Baltic States, acquired a new chancery building._

Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn, who was in Brussels attending the European Development Days, inaugurated the new building located at the centre of Brussels.
Since the image of Ethiopia has been improving because of the rapid economic growth and its role in regional and global peace and security initiatives, the Mission that represents the country in Europe needs to have its own building._
Hailemariam said owning a building in Europe’s diplomatic city is an achievement for the Mission._
As diplomatic hubs for Europe and Africa, Brussels and Addis Ababa have a lot to learn from one another.
This was among the discussion agendas between Hailemariam and Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel during their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the EDD.
Addis Ababa, the third largest diplomatic seat next to New York and Geneva, has a lot to learn from Brussels, which is placed fourth in the list.
The two leaders have also discussed the possibility of twining Addis Ababa and Brussels.
The Embassy in Brussels is accredited to the European Union, to the Benelux countries of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, as well as the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
