The death toll from the flood-waters in the US State of West Virginia has climbed to 20. Officials are worried more bodies will be found as they begin to clear the rubble, as rescue efforts continue. Among the dead was a nine-year-old boy, whose body was found near the Ohio River. More than a hundred homes were destroyed and thousands left without electricity after powerful storms swamped the eastern state. The heavy rainfall prompted the National Weather Service to describe it as a ‘one-in-a-thousand-year event.’ Officials also declared a state of emergency on Thursday night in forty-four counties, mostly in the southeastern part of the state.
