President-elect Akufo-Addo, who won last month’s election with 53.8 per cent of the vote, was sworn in as president.
Prime Minister Hailemariam said on the occasion that “Ghana has accomplished a democratic election which is exemplary to other African countries”.

Stating that Ethiopia and Ghana have a common vision to see a prosperous and integrated Africa, the premier congratulated Ghanaians for holding a successful election.
In his speech to the nation, the new Ghanaian president vowed to boost investment through creating conducive environment for the private sector.
“We will pay due attention and work closely with private investors and create a massive job opportunity for the youth,” he said.
Prior to this, Akufo-Addo, 72 served his country in various posts including as Cabinet Minister, Attorney-General, Minister of Justice, and Foreign Affairs Minister.
