Over 11 thousand suspects to be freed Thursday: Command Post

1,352 Ethiopians who were arrested under the State of Emergency declared on October 8, 2016 would be freed on Thursday, the State of Emergency Command Post has said.

The suspects were apprehended for allegedly being involved in the recent violence in some parts of the country.

 

According to Siraj Fegessa, Secretariat of the State of Emergency Command Post, during their stay in correctional facilities, the suspects received a 20-day refreshment course.

Siraj, who is also Minister of National Defense, called for the necessary support to the suspects while they integrate into the society.

Siraj, who recalled 9,800 other suspects were freed in the first round in December, added that these are already discharging their social and national duties.

The Command Post would shortly evaluate the three-month performance of the State of Emergency and make its findings public.
