The park to be constructed in Humera area, known for its sesame production, will help to produce value added products as well as transform the livelihood of the residents.
The park will enable to process agricultural products cultivated on 254,000 hectares land in the area and create jobs for more than 759,000 individuals, Dr. Mebrehatu Meles, State Minister of Industry said.
The park in which its construction will be conducted into two phases will rest on 1,000 hectares land, the Minister said.
The project will be completed in four years time and infrastructural development and selection of potential investors will be conducted in the mean time, he added.
Apart from sesame, cotton and millet will be processed in the park and production of incense is also to be considered, according to Dr Mebrehatu.
A national plan has been set to construct agro processing industrial parks in Amhara, Tigray, Oromia, and SNNP regional states.
