Ethiopia Opens Embassy in Rwanda

Prime minster Hailemariam Desalegn and first lady Roman Tesfaye Opened Embassy in Kigali Rwand

Ethiopia opened its embassy in Kigali, Rwanda that would enable it consolidate the strong bilateral ties with the East African nation. The visiting Prime minster Hailemariam Desalegn and first lady Roman Tesfaye as well as Ethiopian officials who accompanied the premier to Rwanda attended in the inauguration held on Saturday.

 

The two countries started bilateral relationship following Rwanda’s independence and the ties got strengthened when Rwanda opened its Embassy in Addis Ababa in 1978.

The countries that have been cooperating in the areas of defense and capacity building over the past years have concluded 11 agreements that will bolster ties this week.

The agreements include extradition treaty, mutual legal assistance, communication, information and media, youth and sports, tourism and health.

Education, culture, cooperation in prisons and correctional services, gender, women and children as well as water resources management are also among the agreements.

It was disclosed that the opining the Ethiopian embassy in Kigali will have great significant to accelerate the implementation of the agreements.
