Ethiopia, Portugal to Expand Relations in Economic, Social Spheres

 President Mulatu Teshome held discussion today with the outgoing Portuguese Ambassador Afanso Henriques at the National Palace

During the discussion, the officials have agreed to expand the longstanding diplomatic relation of the countries in economic and social spheres.

The President suggested on the occasion that Portuguese investors can benefit by investing in areas such as textiles and garment.

The departing Portuguese Ambassador, Afanso Henriques said his country is looking forward to further strengthening relations with Ethiopia which is in a very good footing.

“We are old friends and old friends want to build a better future for both countries. That’s why I have the pleasure to serve you for my mandate”, he added.

Ambassador Henriques has promised to do his level best to advance the relationship in areas of common interests when he goes back to his country.

Diplomatic relationship between Ethiopia and Portugal began in 1944.
