Turkish Industry Holding A.S keen to invest in Ethiopia’s booming construction industry

During a meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Aklilu Hailemichael, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Turkish Industry Holding A.S. Mehmet Coskun expressed his company’s keenness to be part of the “considerably growing” construction industry in Ethiopia.

Mr. Mehmet this morning (November 14) noted that competitive incentive packages, fast growing economy, affordable labor and improved infrastructure in the country compelled his company to look for possible investment opportunities in Ethiopia. The Turkish company is interested to invest in the ceramic tile, granite plate, paper, MDF plate, steel structure manufacturing and construction sectors where it produces with its affiliated companies.

Dr. Aklilu hailed the company for its strong desire to partake in the construction sector where the State Minister noted as one of the priority areas of the government. He noted that Government is vigorously working on infrastructure, energy and capacity building to sustain the double digit growth witnessed over a decade. Adding that the bulge in the country’s middle class has increased the demand for construction of houses and apartments Dr. Aklilu assured the Turkish company that there would not be a question of market. Government encourage companies to export their products abroad, according to the State Minister.

Turkish Industry Holding A.S plans to launch its investment in the 2018. The delegation is scheduled to visit Government officials from Ministry of Industry, Director General of Industrial Zones, Ministry of Construction and other relevant sectors.
