Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalgen has expressed his government commitment to realize Adwa Pan African University.
Speaking at the opening of Adwa Pan African University Conference today, the Premier said the government will continue supporting such kind of projects that create national consensus.
He underlined that integrated efforts should be made for the completion of Adwa Pan African University within a short period.
The government has made an initial contribution of two million birr, it was learned.
According to Hailemariam, the establishment of a university in commemoration of Adwa victory is not enough. The values of the victory should be preserved.
“We should work hard to protect and maintain the mountain ranges of Adwa and the roads leading to the battle field so that tourists could pay visits to the area,” he added.
Adwa Pan African University Steering Committee Chairperson, Bitew Belay said construction of the university will begin this Ethiopian fiscal year.
He urged all concerned bodies to contribute to the construction of the university with sense of ownership.
Bitew have further called on all Africans to participate in this lofty project.
Scholars, religious leaders, Abba Gadaas and key stakeholders are participating in the conference.
