Central Committee of Amhara Nat’l Democratic Movement Concludes Meeting

Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) declared that it will continue struggling against activities that hinder equitable utilization of the nation’s resources.

The central committee issued a communiqué yesterday after conducting an in-depth discussion on the situation in the region and at federal level.

In a communiqué it sent to ENA, ANDM noted that the equitable utilization of national resources of the peoples in the region should be ensured like those of the peoples of the country. Any activity that jeopardizes equitable utilization of resources would harm the unity of the country.

In its meeting, the central committee underscored the need to struggle against tendencies and activities that endanger the federal system and harm equitable utilization of resources.

The communiqué added that appropriate struggle against tendencies that lead to miscarriage of justice and the spread of suspicion among the peoples of the country need to be rectified.

The central committee vowed that ANDM would contribute its part in ensuring equitable and fair national composition and quality in human resources by reforming federal government institutions.

ANDM’s communiqué also indicated that the Amhara region is inhabited by various nationalities and peoples who live together in harmony and added that the movement would strive to ensure that the constitutional rights of these peoples to use their languages in education and justice sectors will be fully respected and cherished.

However, recent unrests in various parts of the country have led to the erosion of the age old values, it stated, adding that ANDM condemns these acts that undermine the unity and peaceful coexistence and harmonious life between the peoples of Ethiopia.

During its meeting, ANDM’s central committee emphasized the need for strengthening organizational rectification and promotion of all-round public participation.

The organization finally called for renewal of commitments in the struggle for the promotion of democracy, good governance and promotion of freedom of expression as provided in the constitution.

The communiqué also reiterated that the Amhara nation, under the leadership of ANDM, would continue to work with other nations, nationalities and peoples in the country to ascertain the development and unity of the country.
